Game of Thrones Season 5 Recap – Episode 4: Sons of the Harpy

Game of Thrones Episode 4, Season 5 Here’s what went down in Episode 4 (entitled Sons of the Harpy), Season 5 of HBO’s Game of Thrones:

  • We start this episode with Ser Jorah Gotta-Get-Get-Back-In-The-Friendzone (Iain Glen) punching a guy getting off a boat and taking Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) to see the queen. Remember how I was confused about which queen Jorah meant last week? Seems Tyrion was as well but as soon as he works out he and Jorah are on the same side he then lets Jorah know he’s onto him and his friendzoning ways.
  • We also find Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) on a boat, this one headed for Dorne. Bronn seems to think Cersei (Lena Headey) has sent Jaime to rescue his daughter-niece as a punishment for setting Tyrion free. He also thinks the owner of the boat they’re on will snitch as soon as they are on dry land. Turns out he is totally right. But not to worry, Oberon’s mistress and her gang of warrior women take care of him – once he let’s them know Jaime’s on his way.
  • Cersei the sister wife from hell is busy playing monster inlaw and king this week. At first it seems, following on from last week, she is scheming a holy war. Turns out she is just trying to get back at Margaery (Natalie Dormer) for being snarkier than her last week… As a result of this, Margaery’s brother, Loras (Finn Jones) is arrested for being gay and King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) learns just how uncomfortable it is being between a Margaery and a Cersei. (And probably thinks the sex isn’t even worth it any more.)

Sansa Stark and Littlefinger pash in Episode 4, Season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones

  • Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Littlefinger (Aidan Gillen) are down in the Winterfell vaults talking about Sansa’s back story in relation to the Targaryen’s. Just when it all gets a bit boring, Littlefinger suggests Stannis trying for the Iron Throne is a good thing as it will force Sansa to be made ruler of Winterfell again. I think he knows what a cunt Ramsey (Iwan Rheon) is…
  • So we get some more boring back story, and this time is relates to the Targaryen’s again. Seems Daenerys’ brother could sing. This amounts to absolutely nothing in the scheme of things except to lead us into an uprising in Meereen which results in the sons of harpys (remember the guys wearing masks?) killing heaps of unsullied. The fates of both Ser Barristan (Ian McElhinney) and Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) appear bleak.

WTF MOMENTS

  • Jaime admitting to wanting to kill his brother now.
  • Bronn and Jaime talking about shit ways to die. Was I the only one who kept singing this?
  •  Melisandre (Carice van Houten) using her wiles on Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) and when that doesn’t work, stealing Ygritte’s (Rose Leslie) line as her own.

Episode 4, Season 5 of HBO's Game of Thrones

  • Turns out Stannis (Stephen Dillane) is a much better dad than he is a leader.
  • Sansa being scared of Ramsey’s father – uh-uh lovie, you are looking at the wrong person in regards to scary…

  1. “Sister Wife From Hell.” Is this Cersei’s new title? Also, I thought the title of this episodes would be about more of her bastard children.

Ser Friendzone is really being set up as the most pathetic loser in all of Westeros. “I know–I’ll bring her a DWARF! She’ll love me for it!” Since they’ve admitted they’re going their own way with the story, I see HBO having Dany get pissed off at his attempt to woo her and turning him into dragon kibble.

Jon Snow: still knows nothing. Dumb bastard.
