Seriously, this trailer is just sublime:

One bite started it all . . .

Joshua, Remy, and the twins are settled in their new life. However, life doesn’t always run smoothly. An argument between Becky and her twin causes unforeseen circumstances, an admission by Samir almost costs him his life, and the traitor provides critical information to Liam. But who is it?

As Jakki’s visions begin to focus on the turncoat’s activities, a member of the coven disappears, and others find themselves endangered.

And when Liam’s coven attacks, who will endure?

Fate continues to toy with mortals and immortals alike, and as more hearts descend into darkness, can they overcome the dangers they face and survive?

“Jakki, Pavel, there are far-reaching ramifications about tonight’s abortive attempt that I’m not sure most of us have even considered yet,” Joshua interjected. Everyone turned to look at him in puzzlement. “Think about it for a moment. If the abduction had succeeded, what would have happened?”

“We would have searched for Iskra as soon as we realised she was missing, of course,” Pavel said, in a tone that suggested any idiot with even one brain cell could work the answer out.

“Precisely. Either you and Luka would have gone charging after her, following her scent, possibly into a cleverly planned trap, risking your own lives in the process, or you would have raised the alarm and a number of us would have gathered for a rescue mission. Either way we’d probably have been wiped out. Even if we hadn’t walked into a trap on route, Iskra’s scent would have led directly to Liam’s hideout. It would have been a massacre, with us on the losing side. It would have seriously weakened our coven, leaving us more open and unprepared for an attack, not to mention the emotional fall-out and trauma from losing people who we consider family and are dear to us.

“This amulet did more than save Iskra from being kidnapped, it’s directly responsible for saving all of us. Jakki is responsible for protecting and keeping us safe!” Joshua’s logic was undeniable.

If the ramifications were not so serious, Joshua would have burst out laughing at the wide eyed, incredulous expressions and dropped jaws of everyone in the room. He was obviously the only one who had been able to see the bigger picture.

Luka was the first to break the silence. “My God! Joshua is right!” he said.

“Once again your level-headedness and ability to look outside of a single development has brought us a clarity we might otherwise have overlooked, Joshua,” Pavel praised him.

“Thank you,” said Joshua. For once, he didn’t know what else to say.

“Are there any other insights you feel compelled to share?” asked Pavel.

Joshua paused a moment before responding. “Actually, yes. I’m obviously very sorry Iskra got hurt, but I think this has taught us a significant lesson. Venturing out in small groups, for whatever reason, make us too vulnerable, too easy a target. Liam’s henchmen could be lying in wait anywhere outside the boundary wall, in any direction, and just because their attempts were thwarted tonight, it doesn’t mean they won’t try again.

“If you don’t mind me making a suggestion . . .?” Pavel waved his hand in assent. “From now on, we should go out in larger groups and be fully armed every time we cross the wall. You might also want to consider whether we should have a couple of the guards accompany every group for added security. As I wasn’t here earlier, I don’t know where everyone else is, but for all we know, they could already be in danger or captured. I think we should call each one, get them to meet up a couple of miles away so they have safety in numbers, and get them the hell back here fast!”
