The Walking Dead Season 5 Trailer, Theories & More!

Andrew Lincoln stars as Rick Grimes in AMCs The Walking Dead Season 5

With a little over a month to go until the premiere of AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 5 on October 12th 2014, we are starting to get some teaser action happening! First up I have a long trailer released during San Diego’s Comic Con 2014. Make sure you check out the huge metal trough Rick’s (Andrew Lincoln) gang are forced to lean over at the start of this trailer. Looks like a great place to bleed out meat after slaughtering it don’t you think? Other noticeable things include:

  • Rick is holding a baby while talking to Gareth (Andrew J. West) – is it Judith? If so, then are Carol (Melissa McBride) and Tyreese (Chad Coleman) already in Terminus?
  • We see plenty of action involving the group free of Terminus. Does this mean we don’t get to solve the mystery of Terminus early on in Season 5?
  • What the hell is this that Rick is peering down at? Zombie or rat?

Are we ready for rat zombies ion AMC's The Walking Dead Season 5?

  • There seems to be some sort of zombie conflict – is it at Terminus? Is that why Gareth pairs up with Rick’s gang?
  • I can’t help but wonder if the bloody hand bearing a wedding ring is significant…
  • We see a zombie hand rise up and grab Bob (Lawrence Gilliard Jr.) – could he be the first victim of Season 5?
  • Zombie explosion – can’t WAIT for that!
  • Carol hiding in the grass. Is this when everyone else is still held captive in Terminus?
  • First peek at Beth (Emily Kinney)! Seems she is in a place where everyone is clean and tidy and waaaaay too orderly to be anything but sinister. Is that a hospital she’s in? Experimentation anyone?

You can view the full trailer video below:

The second video has just been released and shows most of footage we have already seen in the above video but the advent of gas masks to enter what looks to be the shipping container Rick’s group is being held captive in is interesting. Also look out for: “It’s not over until they’re all dead. They don’t get to live.” Rick says this but is he talking about the walkers or the people of Terminus? Or perhaps wherever Beth is being held?

Season 5 Theories:

If you want a full list on Season 5 theories, you can view it here. If you want the full list of Terminus theories, then please click here. However, here’s a quick list of the new theories that have been added since the end of Season 4:

  • Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will reveal he is gay. While Robert Kirkman is the source of this rumour and we all know what a troll he can be when it comes to messing with fans heads, the showrunner, Scott Gimple, has now added merit to this theory after he revealed there would be a gay character revealed in Season 5.
  • Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) will lose an eye just like he did in the comic books the TV show is based on.
  • Glenn (Steven Yeun) will die in Season 5. There is now speculation running rife that Glenn will lose his life like he did in the comic books.
  • Beth has been kidnapped by the TV version of Father Gabriel (a comic book character)
  • Terminus and the hospital Beth is at are interlinked
  • The hospital Beth is at is experimenting with cures
  • ‘A’ means arrivals. ‘D’ means departures in Terminus. Could the departures be people being eaten or experimented on?

Do you have any other theories? Let me know by commenting below!

  • The Episode 1 title has been revealed: No Sanctuary. Oh crap
  • Andrew Lincoln had this to say about Season 5: “We’re really earning our rating this season. There are families that watch it together, but just so it’s on the record, guys — it’s a grown-up show this season.” So, just this season, huh? As opposed to that time when Rick ripped a mans throat out with his teeth, or that time when Carol had to tell Lizzie (Brighton Sharbino) to look at the flowers, or, when Sophia (Madison Lintz) turned into a zombie and was shot in the head at point blank range, or, well, basically any episode to date…
  • Want to plan your Walking Dead premiere party? Why not start with the ideas I had for the Season 4 finale party?

  1. What I’ve heard and what I think I know:

First: “I can’t help but wonder if the bloody hand bearing a wedding ring is significant…” According to some tweets Norman put out yesterday, yeah, it could be highly significant. There are rumors it’s Daryl’s hand.

“Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus) will reveal he is gay.” Gimple and Kirkman have both said that this will not be a revile this season. They also said there will be no Carol/Daryl hook up, either. In fact, they’re going to keep Daryl healthy and clean from what ever cooties Carol has. 😉

There will, however, be a gay character.

“Carl Grimes (Chandler Riggs) will lose an eye just like he did in the comic books the TV show is based on.” I’ve heard no. Not yet at least.

“Glenn (Steven Yeun) will die in Season 5.” This is suppose to be true, and was filmed in May, I believe. There was talk of a closed set, and Steven going around giving hugs to everyone at the end of the day. Also, there’s an “official” AMC cast photo of everyone at Terminus, and Glenn isn’t in it.

“Beth has been kidnapped by the TV version of Father Gabriel.” Actually, she’s being forced to perform on the ZA version of “X-Factor.” 😉

“There seems to be some sort of zombie conflict – is it at Terminus? Is that why Gareth pairs up with Rick’s gang?” This ties in with Carol. Someone a month back said she can be seen walking with the walkers in one real quick cut, and that the rumor is she “zombies up” and leads a herd towards Terminus to break out everyone. The herd was the reason in the comic that everyone finally left the Green Farm and headed north, so it sort of ties in with that line.
