Some Stuff and Things to do until The Walking Dead Season 5

TWD Season 5 return meme

Yeah, it’s tough isn’t, having to wait until the end of the year for AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 5. So, what can we do to fill the time?

  • Read The Walking Dead Comics

The Walking Dead Compendium 1I can’t stress enough how awesome these graphic novels are! If you haven’t had a chance to read them yet, then why not start with The Walking Dead Compendium One? This book includes the first 48 comics.

Find out who lasted longer or, alternatively, died quicker, as well as the characters that are exclusive to the comics. Also find out which story lines made it and which ones didn’t. Reading the comics may also help you work out just what the hell Terminus is all about too…

You can also purchase The Walking Dead Compendium Two by clicking here.

  • Like games?

Why not go old school and check out The Walking Dead Risk board game then? There is also a Walking Dead Monopoly set that you can buy here. But, please be aware that the game pieces do set up a major spoiler. (Thanks to Cassidy for this suggestion.)

If you’re more into video games, then you can always try Tell Tale’s The Walking Dead: Season One. This game runs within the Walking Dead universe but has all new unique characters. There has been many, many awesome reviews on this game, and, while I have purchased it, I haven’t had a chance to personally play it yet – but, boy oh boy, am I looking forward to it!

  • Supanova.

This event is sort of like the ComicCon for Australia. There are a variety of guests – one of them being the awesome Michael Rooker, who played Daryl Dixon’s brother, Merl. Supanova comes to the Gold Coast on April 4th, Melbourne on April 11th and Sydney on June 13th. There will also be events in Adelaide and Brisbane in November 2014. And thanks to the guys at Supanova, I have scored a media pass for the Melbourne event, so make sure you check back here after April 13th for my exclusive recap on the event! Tickets start from as little as $27.50 pre-purchase through Moshtix or $32.00 at the door and kids under twelve get in free with a paying adult. For the full guest list, ticket peicing and event schedule, please click here.

For other Walking Dead events around the globe, try these:

San Diego Comic-Con (July 2014)

New York Comic Con (October 2014)

Salt Lake Comic Con (April 2014)

You can check out a more comprehensive list here.

London Film and Comic Con (July 2014)

  • Read a book.

Emeline and the Mutants by Rachel TsoumbakosTo commiserate the demise of Season 4 of AMC’s The Walking Dead, I have reduced the price of Emeline and the Mutants to only 99 cents! Fans of the Walking Dead comic books will find this novel akin to a graphic novel with its snippets of journals, news articles and propaganda posters. Here’s the blurb to entice you some more:

What would you do if your whole family mutated into hideous creatures?

Would you have the courage to do what had to be done when they threatened you life?

Emeline Hart is faced with this horrifying decision when the miraculous Haum vaccine changes into something monstrous. When the mutations start, there is no way to hide the fact that the world is now filled with people who are no longer dying of cancer, heart disease or diabetes. Instead, they become zombies, werewolves and trolls.

In the midst of this, Emeline must search for her missing brother and unravel the conspiracy of events surrounding his disappearance.

The heart pounding action intensifies as medical science goes wrong in EMELINE AND THE MUTANTS.

This deal will only last for seven days, so make sure you pick it up quick before it reverts back to its original price of $3.99!

If you own a reading device other than a Kindle, then you can purchase your 99 cent copy of Emeline and the Mutants by clicking here.

  • But wait, there’s more!

Zombie Apocalypse Now! Part OneI am also giving away the first part of my zombie serial, Zombie Apocalypse Now! free via Smashwords.

What is Smashwords, I hear you ask?

Easy peasey: Smashwords is a multi-format service where you can download books in nearly any format! Kindle, Nook and Kobo are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to ereading formats, so make sure you head on over to Smashwords now and grab your copy of Zombie Apocalypse Now! Part 1 FOR FREE by clicking here.

  • And STILL There’s More!

Metanoia by Rachel Tsoumbakos Cover (genre: horror/zombie apocalypse)Once the credits roll for the end of The Walking Dead Episode 16, check back here as soon as possible. I will be publishing the code which will give you the first five chapters of my upcoming zombie apocalypse novel, Metanoia, for FREE!

Your FREE code is: FY68W

Here’s the blurb:

Definition: n. a spiritual conversion or awakening; a fundamental change of character

Etymology: Greek ‘to change one’s mind, repent’

Marli Anderson has just one task: assassinate Oscar La Monde, the man she once loved.

As assassin for hire for the prestigious Merrick’s Inc., she is sent back to her home town to kill the man she now loathes beyond all others—her husband. Considering they are on opposing sides of the uprising, Marli anticipates an easy task; ‘closure’ they call it. The fact that she can exact her revenge for his past discretions is just the icing on the cake.

When she arrives, the town has changed. The man she hated is unexpectedly welcoming. And the town’s folk—well, they’re just… different. Someone or something has transformed them all into a bunch of zombies. They appear to be harmless – but are they?

As she begins to uncover details of who may be behind the townfolks’ metamorphosis, Marli is left fighting for the truth. Will she and Oscar be able to unravel the web of deception before it’s too late?

Should she trust her heart or her head? Which is less likely to get her killed?

Either way, METANOIA is a heart-stopping zombie apocalypse adventure that will keep you guessing at every twist and turn until the very end.

  • Watch The Walking Dead all over again.

Still finding nothing but watching The Walking Dead will fill the void? Why not rewatch the entire series? Or, at bare minimum, check out Season 4 all in one hit – just to see what you have missed first time round. You might even be able to come up with some new theories on what may go down in The Walking Dead Season 5! Or you might even find some new recurring zombies

  • Plan for Halloween.

It’s never too early to start planning for a Walking Dead themed Halloween. I included some costume ideas recently in my Walking Dead finale party blog, so why not start there?

  • Google is your friend – or foe – until October.

There is plenty of fodder out there already about AMC’s The Walking Dead Season 5. Here’s some tasty morsels to get you started:

        • Season 4 will end with a major cliffhanger
        • A major character is tipped to die in the Season 4 finale since Robert Kirkman recently quipped that “no one is safe” and that there is “quite a big shock coming.”
        • Filming for Season 5 will begin in April of 2014, so expect more info to start cropping up from then onwards.
        • Thanks to signage up around the filming locations for The Walking Dead, it looks like there could be gunfire carrying on over from the Season 4 finale!
        • Season 5, Episode One is reported to be filmed at a train depot. This sounds like things will still be going down in Terminus!
        • Beth’s story line will not be resolved quickly according to Executive Producers for the show. Guess that means Beth isn’t BBQ – not just yet anyway!
        • The new character, Gareth, who was introduced briefly in the Season 4 finale, has the option of becoming a series regular in Season 5.

Thanks to for all this Season 5 info!
