This morning I came across a news article on the possibility of an AIDS cure – of sorts. Associate professor David Harrich from the Queensland Institute of Medical Research has managed to modify a protein in the HIV virus that means the virus will now stay dormant rather than developing into full blown AIDS.
Why am I excited?
Well, if you’ve read Emeline and the Mutants, you already know the answer to that one! You see, in this novel, the mutants from the title occurred because of an AIDS cure that went horribly wrong. The cure from Emeline and the Mutants was also developed in Australia.
While I am not insinuating that this cure will go horribly wrong and we’ll all end up as mutations, I am always up for a decent conspiracy theory.
So what other ‘cures’ are currently being developed to help cure AIDS?
- Professor Sharon Lewis, the director of Alfred Hospital’s Infectious Diseases Unit (also in Australia), is trying to ‘wake up’ the HIV virus when it lies dormant and hidden deep in the patient’s DNA. The theory is that by doing this, the cell it inhabits will be killed and therefore the virus will self destruct
- There is a groups of what are being termed ‘elite controllers’ (or as I like to call them, Emeline Hart). These people are able to naturally control the virus without it developing into AIDS. Basically, you could consider them immune to AIDS to a degree. Scientists are trying to develop a way of copying this immunity by boosting a patients immune system

So why not read my book and check out my theory on how I think the apocalypse will occur? You can purchase Emeline and the Mutants here for Kindle and here for all other devices. If you have an iProduct, you can purchase the novel here.
